Veteran's Day Parade

Last Saturday, our girl scout troops participated in the Veteran's Day parade. We decorated their bikes with balloons, ribbon, and garland. The girls made posters to carry in the parade. Everyone had a great time showing our appreciation for our veterans.

celebrating Juliette Lowe

Juliette Lowe is the founder of Girl Scouts. Her birthday (Oct. 31st) is a huge event for us. We (brownies, juniors, and cadettes) celebrated together with a big birthday bash. The cadettes planned the event for their Games badge. The girls played musical walk, bean bag toss, pin the nose on the pumpkin, and face painting. Then we sang happy birthday and ate cake. Lots of fun!

girl scouts do a food drive

Our girl scouts from 4 different troops sat out in front of the local grocery store on Saturday collecting donations for our local food bank. We do this every year. The girls really like helping their community. We, then, delivered it yesterday with a few of the girls. Of course, my girls are there in the picture.

JD graduates from Cub Scouts

The pack had a very nice ceremony and potluck dinner. The boys recieved pins they had earned. Then JD and another boy changed  their neckerchiefs and color shoulder straps, and received sashes, books, and their first boy scout badge. I am so proud of him! He started with the pack way back in kindergarten as a Tiger Cub and worked all the through the ranks.

Girl Scouts camping trip

The troop earns 50 cents for every box of cookies they sell. My Junior troop set their goal to earn $1000 and go to Mt. Rushmore with the money. They did it and we went on a week long camping trip! Everyone is thinking- you must be crazy. I know. But it was fun. I didn't do it alone, ya know. 5 girls and 3 adults, plus my other 2. And I am not that crazy. We took a camper, not tents. :) We saw Crazy Horse and stopped at Yellowstone too.

Girl Scouts bridging ceremony

We had our GS bridging ceremony on May 25th. Three troops do this together- Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. It was a simple ceremony. The girls said the pledge and law. We gave them their membership stars and any badges they had earned recently. Then those bridging, walked over the bridge (made by one of the girl's grandpa) to receive their bridging patch. The girls then sang a few songs, and we handed out cookie rewards. Afterwards, we ate a potluck dinner. Sweet Pea will now be a Cadette and Boobear will be a Brownie. I am going to move up with Sweet Pea and remain her leader. Boobear will have a new leader. Sweet Pea sold over 500 boxes of cookies! She got to go to horse camp with her rewards.

We are so proud of him! The Arrow of Light is the highest honor in Cubscouts.
